A blog for papercraft lovers!

Posted by youlki22 on January 19, 2008

No!,——
this is not an origami site, but a different kind of site. Paper Forest is a blog which I wished to find a long ago, while searching for origami projects.

I am an enthusiast of crafts, and making crafts with trash or recycled material is my favourite hobby.

Blog doesn’t only provide you with a lot of other site links but there are number of paper projects you may try to make yourself.
I am still amazed by watching a wide collection of paper crafts at this blog. There are also links to other sites/blogs or resources relating to the same topic.

About the blogger: “Jaime Zollars” is a painter and when she isn’t painting, she constructs mechanical paper toys or writes about them at blog.
More about her at her :Jaime Zollars blog

Her work, paintings, paper toys, paper craft is amazing. And I am really inspired how she could offer tons of her projects FREE at her blogs? (Every project has details which can be easily followed)

Come and read a parable

Posted by youlki22 on July 14, 2007

I am a regular reader of “Reader’s Digest” and the first time I knew the meaning of parable, was when I read an inspiring parable at an old publication of it.

It inspired me a lot, as I thought many times about the story (Or parable) and the moral lesson it gave to me. And after that time, I search for parables to read and to share with all. I think wise, good and inspirational words, stories, parables provide us opportunity to think, and relate our life with these thoughts or moral lessons.

It might be beginning of self development process, which should be continued throughout the life.

Let’s learn what is a parable?

“Parable is a brief allegory that is used to teach a moral lesson.” Today I am here with a parable taken from a site.

“Parable of the cracked pot”
A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master’s house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his master’s house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream.

“I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you.”

“Why?” asked the bearer. “What are you ashamed of?”

“I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master’s house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don’t get full value from your efforts,” the pot said.

The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, “As we return to the master’s house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path.”

Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the other side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer for its failure.

The bearer said to the pot, “Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot’s side?”

“That’s because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you’ve watered them.”

“For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master’s table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house.”

Each of us has our own unique flaws. In God’s economy, nothing goes to waste.

So as we seek to minister together, and as God leads you to the tasks He has appointed for you, don’t be afraid of your flaws.

Acknowledge them, and allow Him to take advantage of them, and you, too, can be the cause of beauty in His pathway.

Go out boldly, knowing that in our weakness we find His strength, and that “In Him every one of God’s promises is a Yes.”

Review of a thoughtful blog “Just a thought”

Posted by youlki22 on July 13, 2007

I like reading blogs about thoughts, life, inspiration, motivation, and Just a thought is one of those blogs where you would like to stay to learn and think.
Blogger: David Woon

Desription of the site: “The blog contains my short reflections about Life in general which I hope would, in one way or another, serve as a source of inspiration for you or trigger off some thoughts of your own in the contemplation of the mystery that is Life. And I hope you would also share these thoughts here so that we can all learn and grow together as we strive to leave this world a better place than what it was before our humble existence.”

I am quoting here one of his posts about “Little things, big effects”. I like this post because it seems to me that in our daily life, we do many little things but never think about the big after effects. So this post might help you as well, as it is a reminder to think about these little matters.

A paragraph from the post:

“Indeed, very often, it is the little things that resulted in BIG EFFECTS because we grossly underestimate them and let our guard down against them.

Here’re some other examples:

Time: We lose much valuable time by watching short TV shows, taking short naps, playing computer games for a short while…
Character: We mold our character with all the little thoughts we think throughout the day…
Relationships: We build/destroy relationships with all the little thoughtful/thoughtless things we do/say…”

This is only one post, there are a lot of post, worth of reading, learning and thinking.

Goog work David!
